At Nibi Haven, sustainability isn’t an afterthought—it’s part of the relationship we hold with the land, the water (nibi), and the experiences we invite our guests to share.

Our retreat was created to celebrate nature’s beauty without taking from it. As caretakers of this space, we believe that luxury and responsibility can—and should—exist together. Every small choice reflects our commitment to preserving what makes this place so special.

Our Approach

1. Respect for the Land & Water

We operate with a light footprint—minimizing disruption to native ecosystems, maintaining shoreline integrity, and using only natural, biodegradable cleaners to keep our water systems safe.

2. Thoughtful Design

Our buildings blend into the landscape, built with sustainably sourced or repurposed materials where possible. Every detail—from low-flow fixtures to energy-efficient lighting—was chosen to reduce our environmental impact while maximizing comfort.

3. Low-Waste Hospitality

We provide refillable toiletries, encourage reusable items, and limit single-use plastics in all guest areas. Composting and recycling are part of our daily rhythm.

4. Local Sourcing

From firewood to welcome gifts, we work with local makers and suppliers to support the surrounding community and reduce transportation emissions.

What We’re Working On Next

We’re continually learning and improving. Future steps include:

• Expanding native plant landscaping
• Offering optional carbon offset contributions at booking
• Partnering with local land stewards and Indigenous-led initiatives
• Hosting seasonal eco-education pop-ups or forest walks
